Night of Ideas : Where are we going ?

As France takes over the presidency of the European Union in a context of geopolitical upheaval, the Night of Ideas proposes to bring together artists, philosophers, writers and thinkers from all over the world to propose a glimpse of an answer to the question of the time: "Where are we going ?"

The Night of Ideas: What is it?

Initiated in 2016, the Night of Ideas is a cultural meeting, obviously at night, organized by the cultural institutions present. It is held every year on the last Thursday of January in France and in more than 100 countries around the world.
Based on a predefined theme, cultural institutions organize conferences, artistic performances, readings and many others in order to celebrate the circulation of ideas and open the conversation around the same topic.

The 2022 US edition takes place throughout the month of May, and welcomes nearly 250 speakers from across the United States to discuss the following theme "(Re)building together: Where are we going?"

This completely free event is in collaboration with the French Institutes, the French Embassy in the United States, and the Judy and Peter Blum Kovler Foundation. It is most closely produced by the Villa Albertine, a new cultural institution in charge of strengthening and creating new links between France and the US in terms of art and thought.

The Night of Ideas in San Francisco takes place on May 17 at KQED's new theater The Commons:
-Join us at 6pm to discover the artworks installed at KQED by neurodiverse and disabled artists working in their studios
-Discover the exhibition of some Soapbox Derby cars created by local artists, during a time of sharing.
-At 7pm, attend the screening of the main program. 

This edition is in partnership with the French Embassy in the United States, the Consulates General of France and Luxembourg in San Francisco, the San Francisco Public Library, SFMOMA and California Humanities, and the Villa Albertine in San Francisco.
