To satisfy with the new regulations regarding enrollment for TCF exams, as of January 2026, a valid passport is required at the time of registration. It is the candidate's responsibility to make sure they have a passport valid  until after the date of the exam. No refund will be given. The requirement is for all TCF exams. Only a valid passport will be accepted. Other photo IDs. DO NOT QUALIFY. If your passport is lost or expired, you will need to reschedule your exam for a later date with availability and pay for the administrative fee.  No exception.

Each candidate is provided with a certificate stating their test results within two weeks of the test date, and is valid for 2 years.
Please consider the time period necessary to receive the certificate (about 2 weeks) if you want to apply for a school or immigration process. You will then receive an email with your test results and official certificate.  

 TCF results will no longer send a paper copy. You will be sent a digital version only.

All notifications are sent via email 1 week prior to the exam to the email you used to register. It is not possible to change the day or time of your examination. 
If you arrive after the arrival time on your notification, you will not be granted access to the exam and your registration will be forfeited. 

Your certification is valid for two years.

Then, depending on your level, and your calendar you can also take private classes if you need to learn faster.

The TCF exam is in person. Our site is located at 1345 Bush Street in San Francisco. To find other testing sites, please refer to France Education International's Website. 

Candidate's belongings will go in a separate room during the exam, the candidate will only be allowed to bring in the exam room his/ her photo ID document. The candidate may not bring a cell phone  nor smartwatch into the exam room. 
As the exam is now computer based, no food is allowed in the exam room.  Only a transparent bottle of water may be accepted.
The candidates may only access their belongings between the group examination and the preparation for the spoken exam, if they have a wait time between the two.

Answer for exams that take place after August 31st, 2026:

FEI has announced that, beginning with exams taking place after August 31, 2026, recorrection requests will no longer be accepted until further notice as they update their system.

If your exam is scheduled after this date, recorrections will not be available for your exam.

Answer for exams that take place prior to August 31st, 2026 only:

France Éducation international offers re-marking of the written and/or oral expression sections of the TCF, subject to certain conditions. Please read the information below carefully before submitting your request.

• Requests for re-correction are subject to a fee: the fee is $70 per part (written and/or speaking), in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of TCF Exams.
• The request must be submitted within 30 days of the date the results were issued.
• Processing times can be 4 to 6 weeks from the date the file is sent to France Éducation international.
• The correction may lead to a change in results, either upwards or downwards.
• In case of modification, only the new certificate (resulting from the correction) will be valid with the Quebec, Canadian, prefectural authorities and higher education institutions.
• If the results are changed, the certificate of origin will be considered invalid.
• No refund of re-correction fees will be given , whether the results remain unchanged or are modified upwards or downwards.
