SPECIAL Movie Night : Roussil, le cul par terre- June 30th 2026

Join us on June 30th, from 6 to 8 PM for a special Movie Night screening of R. Roussil, Looking Up from the Ground (Roussil, le cul par terre), a moving documentary dedicated to the life and legacy of Robert Roussil, a major figure in Quebec sculpture. Through his bold artistic works and unwavering commitment to freedom of expression, Roussil left a lasting mark on art history. Yet since his death in 2013, his legacy seems to have gradually faded from public memory.

Synopsis:
R. Roussil, Looking Up from the Ground seeks to revive Roussil’s memory by exploring his work and philosophy through the place where he created most of his art: his mill in Tourrette-sur-Loup, France. Through an intimate and poetic journey into the artist’s creative world, the film reflects on the enduring impact of a visionary sculptor whose voice still resonates today.

Biography – Maxime-Claude L’Écuyer
Director, screenwriter, and editor, Maxime-Claude L’Écuyer studied Cinema and Art History at the University of Montreal. His passion for the arts led him to direct his first feature documentary, 305 Bellechasse (2022), which received the Yolande and Pierre Perrault Prize at Rendez-Vous Québec Cinéma and earned a nomination for Best Sound at the Gala Iris in 2023. He has also written and directed eight short films, including Resonance and Dinosauria, We, all of which have been presented at festivals in Quebec and internationally, with several receiving awards. R. Roussil, Looking Up from the Ground is his second feature documentary.Join us for an evening of cinema, art, and cultural reflection as we rediscover the powerful voice and enduring vision of an extraordinary artist.
