Camps

Our summer camp is a French introduction and immersion program, we will use French as much as possible and encourage kids to practice and play in French. We accommodate both new learners and fluent French speakers from 4 years 9month to 12 years old.  Mornings are academic time both individually with tutoring and in group setting with review from the past school year and learning French through writing, speaking, listening and educational games.
Fun afternoons filled with arts and crafts, games, treasure hunts, theater play, and sport.

Our French native teachers welcome all children in a happy, caring, and relaxed atmosphere.

Morning activities are focused primarily on language skills (reading  and listening comprehensions, writing and speaking ). We combine direct instruction, small-group work, and one-on-one learning in a way that works for your child. Our teachers respect every individual rhythm and personality, and make sure that everyone enjoys their camp activities. 
We start the day with  30 minutes mathematics reviews from the program of the school year which just ended to help kids get ready for the next school year.  Mathematics review time is mainly tutored but also includes group activities to practice mental operations (additions, substractions) and problem solving skills. 

Afternoon activities are designed to give the children multiple ways to express their creativity and to learn and develop new skills. 
Afternoon activities include visual arts, science experiments,  games and more surprises!
If we are able to secure the rental of the school yard, which is unfortunately confirmed only last minute by the department in charge, we spend all recess times and at least 1h outsite in the afternoon to take some fresh air and burn some energy. 

Each camp will last for full days from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.  
Check in will be held between 8:55 am and 9:30 am each morning.
Sign out is between 4:00 and 4:30 pm. You must pick up your child by 4:30 pm.

Early drop off and aftercare 

We may offer  early drop off and aftercare, if there is enough interest. If you are interested in early drop off 8:30 to 9:00 and or aftercare 4:30 to 5:00 (with additional cost, $100 per week for both) please email us at camps@afsf.com. 
We could add this service if we receive sufficient interest from parents. 

I can't pick up my child, can I ask someone else to pick him/her up for me? 

Yes IF  the person is on your authorized pickup list (in the form you filled with us) 
OR if you email us (only written email will be valid, no phone call, no text message) with the name of your child, your name, and the name of the responsible adult (over 18) plus phone number to add on the authorized pick up list. Please also confirm if you want the person to be authorized on only one/ several specific date(s) or for the duration of the camp. 

IMPORTANT !

• We will NOT release your child to a person under 18, even if it's his/her sibling.
• We will NOT release your child to anyone (even the parent of another child) who is NOT on your authorized pick up list or for which we have not receive a written confirmation
• Any adult will need to show photo ID to pick up a child before signing the document. 
• Every child MUST be signed IN AND OUT  by an adult from the authorized pick up list EVERY MORNING  AND EVERY AFTERNOON at the front desk. We will NOT allow any child to enter or leave the building if not accompanied by one authorized adult.
• Your child WILL NEVER be allowed to come/leave alone by bus. 

Children ages 4 y 9 mo - 12 years old are eligible to register for camp. We are limiting registration to children entering  K - 9^th grades.
We request that kids are able to use the bathroom autonomously. 

Parents should plan to pack snacks, lunch and a water bottle for their kids. 

Unfortunately, the summer meal program from the city  placed our site on a waitlist.  We'll let you know if there is any change. However, it seems unlikely at this time that we will be able to distribute any meal or snack. 

Please let us know in advance, if your child has food allergies  in particular for strong allergies so we can communicate with other parents and have a safe environment.

• a jacket to keep your child warm
• a great smile and energy! 
• NO toys/ video games/ cards/ books- please leave them all at home we have everything your child needs. 

What to do if we are running late / have a doctor appointment or need to pick up early ?

Please email our camp coordinator at camps@afsf.com and cc the front desk at afsf@afsf.com to let us know what time you plan to drop off or pick up. 

What to do if my child is sick? 
Please stay home even if you think it's not Covid related, email our camp coordinator at camps@afsf.com to let us know and take a Covid test ASAP!  Let us know the results as soon as you have them. 

We will require mandatory Covid vaccine for children to be able to attend the camp. 
The proof of vaccination for each child will be required to be shown on the first day of attendance, before entering the building. 
This policy is already in effect for our onsite kids classes. 

we will need : 

• the registration form, please make sure to enter any allergies, medication, special food (vegetarian/ gluten free/ lactose free). Only the adults you list on that form will be able to pick up the child

  • Photo release for minor children
  • Health risk acknowledgement  (COVID Specific) 
  • Rules for proper camp behavior

Unfortunately, we have received the news that due to lack of funding, the summer together program will not be continued in 2022. 

The $100 deposit per child per session (=week), due at the time of registration in order to secure your camper’s spot in camp, is a non-refundable deposit, barring medical issues (see below).

When we reserve a spot for you, we are prohibiting others from signing up, as we have limited space available. There are no camp sick-day credits.

First, we would like to encourage you to simply move to another session so your child can still experience one of our camps. However, we understand that life happens, things come up and you may need to cancel altogether. To do so, please call or email us as soon as possible.

If you need to cancel for any reason and would like a partial refund or transfer, you must notify camps@afsf.com,   noemie@afsf.com, and  afsf@afsf.com at least 30 days in advance of your selected session.

• Cancellation between 99 days out from camp and 30 Days out from camp will receive a refund less 50% of your purchased price.
• There will be no refunds or transfers 29 days out from camp.
• $100 deposit is not refundable or transferable at any time, unless it is a medical reason (must provide a written explanation from a 

doctor).

• Cancellations due to personal reasons, etc. will not receive a refund
• Campers who leave during a session WILL NOT receive a refund

We understand that medical issues may arise over the course of the year or just as your child is set to attend camp.  Please call us as soon as possible to inform us of your need to cancel. Cancellation requests due to illness or accident prior to the camp session start date require a physician’s written verification. Upon receipt of verification, we will issue a full refund.  If your child is sick and there is time and room, we will work with you to switch your camper to a later session.

Switching from one session to another is definitely possible, though it depends on your timing. If you decide you want to transfer to another session, and spots are available in that session, you’ll need to pay a $50 transfer fee. Requests to switch sessions must be made in writing to camps@afsf.com and must be made prior to 30 days out from session.
Registration is only transferable during the same calendar year from original camp registration date.

If you need to transfer your registration to someone else for the whole session, partial transfer are not available at any time, you must notify us and do so prior to 3 days out from session start date. There will be a $50 transfer processing fee. Cancellations and transfer requests must be in writing by email to camps@afsf.com.

You cannot transfer your registration to a session next year or to a following season. Registrations can only be transferred within the same calendar year.

We reserve the right to cancel a session date if participation numbers does not reach our minimum. You may select an alternative session date, or you may request a full refund of tuition paid. Cancellations of sessions will occur a minimum of one week prior to the session.
