Would you like to learn French but can't come in-person to Alliance Française de San Francisco? The Alliance Française de San
Francisco gives language learners the opportunity to take online classes no matter where they are, from the comfort of their home, office,
or holiday home!
You can easily collaborate with your teacher live either 1-on-1 or in a group class, and learn just as if you're sitting in a classroom!
Live collaboration with your teacher will happen in an environment with video and audio interaction, instant messaging and access to
educational tools such as shared notepad and learning materials. These tools are essential in creating a quality educational environment
for our students.
All our courses follow the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages , which is a guideline that describes the
level of fluency achieved by a foreign language learner. The CEFRL includes 6 levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2.
Our naming system is the following:
Level A1 : Beginner - 4 sublevels
Level A2 : Elementary - 4 sublevels + conversation classes
Level B1 : Intermediate - 5 Sublevels + conversation classes
Level B2 : Advanced - general + topic classes
Level C1 : Proficient - general + specialized classes
*The sublevels are planned to help you achieve the stated level. Each sublevel is a step up in the progression from the
previous one .
Before enrolling, we invite you to take a placement test . You will spend only a few minutes to complete
it, but it's the best way to find the class that fits your language needs.
