Paris Fashion Week: Fashion the French Way
A month ago, on September 28, 2026, Paris Fashion Week kicked off. For nine days, until October 6, the capitale hosted the spring-summer 2027 women’s collections. More than a hundred fashion houses were on the official calendar, from historic brands to young designers.
How Does Fashion Week work ?
Paris Fashion Week, as we know it today, has existed since 1994. Paris is one of the four major fashion capitals, along with New-York, London and Miami. Collections are shown six months to a year before the season they are made for : the summer 2027 clothes were shown a months ago, in autumn 2026. The are several fashion weeks during this year :
The women’s Fashion Week is in March and in September-October. The men’s fashion week is in January and June. Finally, the House Couture, made-to-measure creation is in January and July.
Shows are by invitation only, and the front rows are full of celebrities. At Dior, Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence and Rosalía sat in the front
row. At Louis Vuitton, K-pop stars such as Jisoo and Rosé (BLACKPINK) were among the guests. But many are also live-streamed online.
A Month Age on the Runway
The schedule included more than 60 shows and around thirty presentations. Biggest houses were all there, including Dior, Saint Laurent, Chanel, Celine, Balenciaga, Loewe and Louis Vuitton. Chanel showed on the evening of October 5, and Louis Vuitton closed the week on October 6.
Two new creative directors made their debuts : Drew Henry at Courrèges and Kai Nesselrath at Carven. Several brands returned to the Paris calendar after a break, such as Valentino, Maison Margiela, Sacai and Casablanca. The South African label Maxhosa Africa joined the official calendar for the first time, a sign of a more international fashion scene.
What’s Next for Fashion Lovers ?
Fashion Week is not only for professionals : during the week, Paris offered exhibitions, pop-up stores, installations and events open to the public, such as the SPHERE event at the Palais de Tokyo. Fashions lovers can still watch many of the show online or visit the fashion exhibitions in Paris museums.
If you want to know what’s next, here are the dates to remember: men’s fashion for autumn-winter 2027/2028 will take place from January 19 to 24, 2027, Haute Couture for spring-summer 2027 from January 25 to 28, 2027, and women’s fashion for autumn-winter 2027/2028 from March 1 to 9, 2027.
