Reading Selections to Improve your French on Culturethèque

Reading is an excellent and stress-free method of improving your French language skills. As this FluentU blog points out, it’s important to start with books at the appropriate level in topics that are interesting to you. Though you may not understand every word initially, you will build your vocabulary as new words become familiar to you through the context of the story structure as you become more and more involved in the plot.

Your AFSF Culturethèque e-library is here to help you select the best titles for your reading level.  Explore the APPRENDRE LE FRANÇAIS EN LISANT  (Learn French by Reading) to find titles curated by reading level for readers of all ages and interests. Mysteries, history, children’s books, and even the grand classiques in abridged versions. Curated by reading level, these adapted versions of the classics bring great French literature to French learners while affording an entertaining experience to expand your French vocabulary.

For other articles in our AFSF blog series on the values of reading in French,  check out  Explore French Magazines and Newspapers on Culturethèque to see how catching up on the news and improving your French can be done together – or  take a look at  French Classics Challenge: Culturethèque e-library  to find even more French classiques that  you have been meaning to tackle – but never quite found the time.

Visit the AFSF Library page for instructions on how to sign up for the Culturethèque e-library.  Bonne lecture par niveau en français!
