The pieces will be performed with projections of the art, mixing French and American, new and historic, traditional and experimental. He performs on a French violin made in 1840 by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume and gives a brief description of the music and art in a combination of English and French. Daniel has performed The Bow and the Brush across the United States and Europe, including Carnegie Hall, Boston University, University of California, The American Library in Paris, University of Rome, and Stern Pissarro Gallery in London. The performance will be followed by a Q&A. “A virtuoso exposition of violin playing, and a celebration of the intersection of art and music” (Fanfare)Daniel Darmesin Flanagan currently serves as Concertmaster of the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, Concertmaster of West Edge Opera, and Instructor of Violin at University of California, Berkeley. Described as an “excellent violinist” (New York Concert Reviews), “stellar musician” (Nevada Reviews), “one of the country’s most talented interpreters of contemporary music” (International Journal of Music), and “superior violinist” (Piedmont Post), he has been praised for his “exquisite tones” and “forthright brio” (Sacramento Bee), and his “solos were excellent” (San Francisco Classical Voice). Flanagan created The Bow and the Brush, an organization that commissions new music inspired by paintings and sculptures. With over 30 chamber and solo works, he has performed solo recitals across the United States and Europe, including Carnegie Hall, University of California, Boston University, University of Rome, Stern Pissarro Gallery, and The American Library in Paris. Several of these compositions can be heard on his album, The Bow and the Brush, released by MSR Classics in March of 2023, to critical acclaim. Flanagan has performed as concertmaster with the Oakland Symphony, Santa Rosa Symphony, California Symphony, California Musical Theater, Festival Opera, Symphony San Jose, Modesto Symphony, and Opera Parallèle. He performs regularly with the San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Ballet, Trio Solano, Berkelium String Quartet, and the Eco Ensemble. <product_content><![CDATA[# https://www.tickettailor.com/self-service/piaff?widget=true&modal_widget=true Moi je joue! It’s the story of a group of actors, real-life friends, who decided to bring their reality to the stage. This is the story of Jean, Adèle, Vito, and Alisson. Four very different personalities brought together by the same dream: being artists. Meet Jean Cachet, the son of a renowned playwright who inherits an acting class, somewhat reluctantly.Adèle, a former teen star from Canal J, who is banking everything on an audition for the role of her life.Vito, a Club Med singer with an extraordinary ability to let go, a gift that works wonders. And Alisson, as funny as she is endearing, who dreams of performing a one-woman show. Through their experiences, we dive into the chaotic yet deeply authentic journey of working in film and on stage.“This play, full of self-deprecation, is us: our words, our experiences, our humor, our disappointments, and our dreams.” The play is in French Le Public en parle:Fabuleux!: Excellent moment. <product_title><![CDATA[Theatre play RICHARD – A contemporary adaptation of Shakespeare on Sept 18]]></product_title>
<product_content><![CDATA[You're Invited to a Night of Bold, Modern Theatre at AFSF! 🎭Join us on Thursday, September 18 at 6:00 PM at the Alliance Française de San Francisco for a powerful performance of Richard, a reimagined take on Shakespeare’s Richard III by acclaimed French artist Antony De Azevedo. Prepare to be transported into the haunting underground of the Paris metro, where power, madness, and fantasy collide. In this gripping 75-minute two-hander, Antony De Azevedo stars alongside the mesmerizing Poppée Bashung, in a production that fuses Shakespearean tragedy with urban surrealism. Set in a fictional metro station called Pouvoir ("Power"), Richard tells the story of a homeless man’s descent into delusion after finding a discarded king cake crown. Metro announcements become divine omens, and a mysterious female commuter morphs into every character from Shakespeare’s world — from Lady Anne to Death herself. With dreamlike scenography by Citronelle Dufay, this daring play is as much a visual experience as it is a theatrical one — inspired by filmmakers like David Lynch and Luc Besson. Don't miss this rare opportunity to witness a masterpiece of French theatre right here in San Francisco. Whether you're a fan of Shakespeare, contemporary performance, or innovative stagecraft, Richard is a performance that will leave you thinking long after the lights go down. 📅 Thursday, September 18, 2025🎟️ Admission is $20 and $15 for AFSF members.📍 Alliance Française de San Francisco 1345 Bush Street, SF🕕 Doors open at 5:00 PM | Show starts promptly at 6:00 PM 👉 Get your ticket now!Brought to you by AFSF in proud collaboration with Impact Productions. Performed in French. We look forward to seeing you there — underground, at the crossroads of poetry and power.MORE ABOUT ANTONY DE AZEVEDO [caledonie/plein-cadre/7384613-anthony-de-azevedo-comedien-et-metteur-en-scene.html](https://www.france.tv/la1ere/nouvelle-caledonie/plein-cadre/7384613-anthony-de-azevedo-comedien-et-metteur-en-scene.html) http://www.symanews.com/2022/03/19/antony-de-azevedo-met-en-scene-orgie-de-pasolini/ https://www.sudouest.fr/culture/journal-d-un-fou-de-theatre-8705654.php]]></product_content>

Through words we tear ourselves apart, and we tear others apart. But silence is worse.”“It is a merciless struggle. A fight to the death.” A word on the author: Sarraute’s entire oeuvre is dedicated to the exploration of minute, ephemeral movements of feeling at the very limits of consciousness. These she called “tropisms,” a term that provided the title of her first book of short sketches or prose poems. In the works that followed, Sarraute showed the tropisms at work in the wider scope of the novel form, creating slow-motion close-ups that dramatize and enormously enlarge —often with comic effect— the virtual dramas latent in ephemeral flickers of feeling. 📆 When?
